   Cloud computing is facing significant challenges in meeting the increasing data computing and intelligent service demands of IoT devices and applications, in terms of data processing delay and context-aware service supporting. By moving data computation and service supply from the cloud to the edge of the network, edge computing becomes an overwhelming trend to enable the possibility of meeting application delay requirements, improve the scalability and energy efficiency of lightweight IoT devices, provide contextual information processing, and mitigate the traffic burdens of the backbone network. In this talk, I will introduce the opportunities and main challenges that edge computing faces in the IoT era. Then, I will present how can we exploit Transparent Computing to build a scalable IoT architecture to address these challenges. Some case studies will be also presented to show our practice on implementing TC-based wearables to achieve efficient and intelligent service provisioning.
    个人简介:
    任炬,男,博士,中南大学信息科学与工程学院特聘教授,博士生导师,ACMIEEECCF会员。2013-2015年受国家留学基金委资助,在加拿大University of Waterloo进行博士联合培养。长期从事物联网、透明计算和边缘计算等方面的研究。近年来,主持国家自然科学基金1项,中南大学创新驱动计划1项,参与国家级或省部级重点项目5项;以第一作者或通讯作者在IEEE/ACM Trans.等国际权威SCI期刊发表论文20余篇;以第一发明人授权发明专利1项,申请发明专利10余项;以第一作者出版英文专著1本。现担任国际SCI期刊《Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications》副主编,国际权威SCI期刊《IEEE Network》首席客座编辑。曾担任IEEE VTC 2017 Fall等多个国际会议的程序委员会分论坛主席,IEEE INFOCOM 2018等多个国际权威学术会议程序委员会委员,10余个国际知名期刊审稿人。
